In 1974 a school teacher named Ernő Rubik invented the Rubik's Cube. He had no idea this would be such a wildly popular toy because it was originally intended to help his students understand 3D geometry concepts!
And then, of course, there are Legos! Did you know that in 1932, a toy maker in Denmark created the first Legos, originally made of wood? A couple of years later, the toy maker named his business Lego after the Danish phrase “leg godt,” which means “play well.”
